I spent some time the other night reflecting back on my Powerman Race trying to determine where I saw the most improvement. 20 minutes is a lot of time to shave off any race. Fortunately, having raced PM before, I was able to extract my data from my Garmin. Here I was able to produce a side by side comparison to see how well I did...or didn't do on each mile and split along the way.
Not surprisingly, my run fitness was much better this year than last. Plus, more favorable conditions on the bike put me in a better position to improve on that time. However it is an interesting analysis.

Because I am an extremely data driven person, I often like to race the same course multiple times. Running two marathons doesn't give you a true comparable analysis. Running the same marathon in consecutive years, can provide that type of glimpse. Maybe...just maybe...this analytical side will drive me to want to race PM again in the future....just because I am nerdy like that.
